Hello, my name is Elaine Conway and I am a qualified Counsellor with practices both in The City - Bank (EC3V), Moorgate (EC2M), and in Finchley Central (N3 1DP). I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and my commitment to my clients is to provide effective therapy in a compassionate and nurturing environment.

My Approach

I believe we are all born with an individual temperament into a specific environment. These early environments and relationships are fundamental in establishing our attachments, giving us our life scripts and building the basis for the way we feel about ourselves and the outside world.

As our lives progress, we sometimes begin to notice we don’t feel quite right inside; perhaps we don’t feel connected to others, we might feel anxious, or notice we experience low mood quite often. As we begin to have relationships, we might notice our relationships just don’t work out. We choose partners who leave us feeling worthless, or don’t meet our expectations of what love should feel like. We may begin to start experiencing some anxiety, which can begin to manifest in psychical health conditions, which have no medical explanation for. We can develop addictive patterns which can continue to contribute to the void we experience inside.
We can feel angry, resentful, guilty and confused. Our work may suffer. Or work can be the place we feel our best. Therefore we begin to notice our working hours seep into our personnel time. We can start to feel burnt out, tired.

My work predominantly is around trauma, relationships, addictions and anxiety. I help clients to understand their patterns, to work with their confusing feelings and to start ‘being with’ the feelings we brand as negative. Our sessions are based on the relationship we build together; this is our foundation. I help clients to notice their part in their relationships and move away from feeling like a victim and more into a position of being equal. Present moment awareness, compassion and acceptance are basic ingredients I use with clients. We will journey together through your fears, anxieties and achievements.

I work with a structure and aim to have regular reviews. My mission is to ensure my clients begin to notice changes and start to experience some relief from their distress.

The approaches I mainly draw from as an Integrative Counsellor include the below:

•CBT (Cognitive Behaviour therapy)
•Psychodynamic therapy
•Person Centred therapy
•Time Limited therapy
•Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

I work with clients authentically, honestly and try to ensure the treatment you receive is effective and brings about change. I try to work creatively with you and also try to instigate some body and mind connection, as both are closely interlinked and create a holistic healing of the whole self.
